Sketching, Storytelling and ideation workshops for healthcare
The ability to visually communicate is important not only to UX professionals, but really to anyone engaged in systems design while working in a team environment. Beyond visual communication, the creation of storytelling items such as experience maps, storyboards, scenarios and personas is crucial in helping teams to share an understanding of user behaviors, paths, goals and blockers.
UX Storytelling in healthcare
Premera Blue Cross is one the largest health insurance companies in Washington, Oregon and Alaska. With some recent transitions in their UX organization, they sought workshops centered around narrative and storytelling in UX. The workshops were for UX team employees as well as program managers and others who were interested.
Having a smaller team of workshop attendees allows for direct, individualized feedback. Relevant challenges Premera is currently facing related to mobile booking and hospital care were factored into our ideation sessions.
Best practices in experience mapping, personas and sketching techniques were shared through a combination of presentations and activity sessions during my multiple visits.
